![]() ![]() RetroRack seems to specialize in Chevy, GM, Mustang, and Mopar cars. So those of you on the Forum who own Babybirds, Big Fords, or other makes that are interested in installing a bolt on Rack & Pinion System, should check out their websites. He said these are complete bolt on systems, ready to be installed.įlaming River, Unisteer, and RetroRack already make Rack & Pinion systems for many makes and years of classic cars. Alby has confirmed to me that when they engineer a new R&P set, they also make and market the proper mounting brackets with the kit. ![]() They make Right & Left Hand R&P Systems, and other products also. For those of you who live Down Under or in New Zealand and do not know about RetroRack, you might want to check them out. He said that the approximate cost for a Squarebird R&P System would be about the same price as one for a Mustang, or $3,245.00 AUD = $2,467.43 USD, plus about $200 shipping to your home from Down Under. RetroRack engineers would need access to one for a couple of days or so, so that they can check it over to determine what will have to be done to accomodate an R&P System for the Squarebird. So what works on a '58, should work on a '59 and a '60 Squarebird. Our webmaster has told me that there is NO difference in front ends between the '58-'60 Squarebirds. If there is anyone who owns a '58-'60 Squarebird in the Adelaide area, that would be willing to allow his people to inspect an ORIGINAL Squarebird, he would like to hear from you. He said, after talking with me, that he would make a call to his office Down Under and have them initiate a search for a Squarebird to use as a test car. He was also looking into the '64-'66 Flairbirds. He just stated that he will start the process to obtain an original '58, '59 or '60 Tbird as a donor car to begin the process of creating a bolt on Rack & Pinion System for the Squarebird. Because of the discussion that I and Alby Scali enjoyed, I found that he was already considering adding Tbirds to their product line as they expand their products to other years and models they do not already have in inventory. RetroRack manufactures and ships Rack & Pinion Systems all over the world for many different cars, left hand and right hand systems, and more. This is something that he has been considering doing. A week or so ago, I contacted their company and last night I was able to contact Alby Scali, who does all their R&D and have a long conversation with him regarding marketing Rack & Pinion Systems for 1958-1966 Tbirds. The third one is RetroRack Co., located in Australia and owned by Paula Scali of Alby scali group of company's in Australia. They tell me they have no immediate plans to market kits for other years of Tbirds. The only kit they manufacture is for the 1955-1957 Thunderbird. Two of them, Flaming River, and Unisteer are located in the USA, both in Ohio. I have found only three companies who presently market R&P Systems for Classic cars. I have been researching Rack & Pinion Systems for Tbirds because of the recent interest in them expressed on the Forum. ![]()
